Aso Oke : The Yoruba Indigenous Clothing

Every tribe has its peculiarity in terms of Fashion and Styles, as the Edo is blessed with the Ododo Buluku, the Yorubas from South western Nigeria too had their own choice of Outfit. Aso Oke (Top cloth) is peculiar to the Yoruba's, either for their events or for their Outings, if you aren't dressed in the Aso Oke you are not "there yet".

It is the clothing of the Royalties and the wealthy, the Elites and fashionista, Male and Females. You definitely can't escape been clothed in either the Alaari, Sanyan or Etu either for your AGBADA, BUBA and SOKOTO (Trousers) for male or IRO (Wrapper) for Females or as FILA or GELE, be it as it may if aren't

wearing the Aso Oke you definitely aren't in VOGUE. The later days Fashion has tried to confine the Aso Oke to the History books and as well limit it to the Outfits of the Royalties but check out this Pics and see a Remodenized Aso Oke coming back with a Bang!!!
